Meet Ronald L. Calhoon

Rated by Super LawyersRaised in a union household led by a father who served as President of a National Labor union for decades, there is little reason to understand why Attorney Calhoon devoted his professional life to serving and helping one of the most abused among us: those who have suffered a work injury making profits for someone else.

That is why he practiced exclusively in representing employees in workers’ compensation proceedings with a passion for protecting the rights of employees. Simply put: intent matters. Excellence also matters. For the last thirty years, he has successfully represented many people seeking benefits under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1985, Attorney Calhoon earned his law degree in 1988 from Boston University School of Law. He was a member of the Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and American Bar Associations and Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group, a national organization of lawyers representing injured workers. He passed the exam to become a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 2013 (the first year it was offered) and became certified in that year.

As an advocate of employee rights, he was active in the formation of the Pennsylvania Federation of Injured Workers, and currently serves on their Board of Directors. For many years running, he was selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.

Considered among the best workers’ compensation lawyers in their profession in Pennsylvania (PA), Super Lawyers represent the top five percent (5%) of the practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania and are selected by their peers in an extensive nomination and polling (36,000 ballots) process conducted by Law and Politics. He was selected as a member of Continental Who’s Who and, in June 2010, was selected as a member of Baltimore Who’s Who. In May 2010, he was awarded superb status by his clients on AVVO.

His hobbies include archery big game hunting, fishing, hang gliding, reading historical biographies, community building, and helping charities.

Mr. Calhoon sold Calhoon and Associates P.C. to Matthew Kaminsky, Esq in June of 2016. Since then the firm changed its name to Calhoon and Kaminsky PC. Mr. Calhoon stopped practicing PA Workers’ Compensation Law in April 2018.
