Once an application for Social Security disability benefits is filed, in most cases, Social Security will make a determination within four months. If denied and a reconsideration is requested, this process takes about four months as well.
If denied and an appeal is filed and a hearing requested before an Administrative Law Judge (“ALJ”), it will take about nine months to a year to get a hearing. If the ALJ denies your claim, an appeal before the Appeals Council can take about a year, and in some cases longer, before a decision is received.
If you have applied for Social Security and have been denied, have questions, or need help with an Appeal, contact the Pennsylvania social security attorneys at Calhoon & Associates at 877-291-9675 for a free consultation.
