Once an application for Social Security disability benefits is filed, in most cases, Social Security will make a determination within four months. If denied and a reconsideration is requested, this process takes about four months as well.
If denied and an appeal is filed and a hearing requested before an Administrative Law Judge (“ALJ”), it will take about nine months to a year to get a hearing. If the ALJ denies your claim, an appeal before the Appeals Council can take about a year, and in some cases longer, before a decision is received.
If you have applied for Social Security and have been denied, have questions, or need help with an Appeal, contact the Pennsylvania social security attorneys at Calhoon and Kaminsky P.C., at 717-695-4722 for a free consultation.
