Private Sector Adds 64,0000 Jobs, But Government Loses Jobs

The private sector has added 64,000 positions in September of 2010, but this is the weakest showing since June. The government lost 159,000 jobs in September of 2010, with local government cutting 76,000 jobs, mostly teachers. This is the largest cut by local governments in 28 years. With local governments needing to balance their budgets, drops in tax revenue have resulted in cutting services. The unemployment rate held at 9.6 percent.
