Hello, my name is Tom Wilken. I am a workers’ compensation attorney for Calhoon and Kaminsky P.C.

Today, we’re here to discuss whether or not you can recover workers’ compensation benefits for scarring. Under Pennsylvania law, in order to recover benefits for scarring or disfigurement, you must have an injury of your head, neck, or face.

This would include discoloration, burns, cuts, permanent abrasions or even, in some cases, loss of teeth. In order to do this, you’ll have to file a petition and go in front of a judge to have him view the scar. If the scar makes you uncomfortable, or makes you self-conscious, that’s information that would be useful for the judge to hear. Once that’s done, the judge will evaluate the scar, and make a decision, awarding you benefits up to 275 weeks.
